Dr. Jaishri Blakeley is a clinician scientist with research expertise in the development of clinical trials for nervous system tumors. Her research expertise is in early clinical-translational studies including tumor pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic investigations, imaging biomarkers for rare nervous system tumors and incorporation of patient focused, functional endpoints in efficacy studies. In 2012 she cofounded the Neurofibromatosis Therapeutic Acceleration Program (NTAP) to dramatically shift the landscape of NF1 clinical care via efficient and innovative discovery, translational and clinical research. NTAP focuses on therapeutics, fosters collaboration, facilitates open and timely sharing of results, and streamlines the research process to accelerate therapies for plexiform and cutaneous neurofibromas. NTAP facilitates a culture that supports all stakeholders and maximizes the value of each investigation and contributor. Dr. Blakeley is an active member of multiple research and medical education consortia and invests in mentoring the next generation of physician scientists through the NTAP Francis Collins Scholars Program, as the inaugural director of the UCNS Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins and co-chair of the SNO Career Development and Training Committee. Dr. Blakeley’s research, mentoring and programmatic efforts are all in the service of improving outcomes for the people with NF1, the schwannomatoses and primary brain cancers for whom she is honored to provide care as director of the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center and the Marjorie Bloomberg Tiven Professor of Neurofibromatosis in Neurology, Oncology and Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
