Neuro-Oncology Laboratory - Luxembourg Institute of Health
Strassen, Luxembourg
Dr. Simone P. Niclou is Department Director at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (www.lih.lu), overseeing 10 research groups active in fundamental and translational cancer research. Her own research, the NORLUX Neuro-Oncology Laboratory, focuses on the biological mechanisms of glioma, with the aim to identify and develop novel treatment opportunities. The group established relevant pre-clinical models for glioma research, including patient-based tumor organoids and patient-based orthotopic xenografts. These are applied in mechanistic studies of angiogenesis and invasion, tumour plasticity and IDH mutant glioma metabolism. Since 2014 Dr. Niclou is also adjunct professor at the University of Bergen in Norway. Between 2015-2019 Dr. Niclou served as president of the board of directors of the Laboratoire national de santé, the national diagnostics laboratory in Luxembourg (www.lns.lu). She currently serves on the executive board of the European Association for Neuro-Oncology (EANO), on the editorial board of Neuro-Oncology and since 2019 she is associate editor for Neuro-Oncology Advances.
