Dr. Gagan Deep holds the position of a Professor at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. His primary research focus lies in the realm of extracellular vesicles, aiming to comprehend their significance in aging-related pathologies, as well as their potential utility as 'liquid biopsies' for diagnostic and prognostic applications. Within his laboratory, several pioneering methodologies have been developed for the isolation of tissue- and disease-specific extracellular vesicles from various biofluids. Through multiple studies, Dr. Deep's team has highlighted the value of small extracellular vesicles derived from brain cells, present in plasma, for the assessment of molecular biomarkers associated with Alzheimer's disease and neurodegeneration. He is using the similiar tools to isolate and characterize glioma-specifc extracellular vesicles from the blood to offere needed molecular biomarkers related to patient's survival and treatment response.
