Dr. MacNeil is a Medical Oncologist at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Dalhousie University. She completed her Medical Oncology Subspecialty training at the University of Ottawa in 1997, followed by a 1 year Fellowship in Phase I/II Clinical Trials with the Canadian Clinical Trials Group (CCTG) at Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, in 1998. From 1998 to 2006 she was a Clinical Instructor with the Department of Medicine, University of British Columbia, in Victoria, BC, where she worked at the Vancouver Island Cancer Centre. Dr. MacNeil moved to Nova Scotia in 2006 to take up her current position.
Her main areas of specialty include the treatment of primary CNS tumours, and thoracic malignancies. She has been co-chair of the local Neuro-oncology site team since 2008, and a member of the Brain Disease Site Committee of the CCTG (Canadian Clinical Trial Group), and the Canadian Brain Tumour Consortium. Dr. MacNeil is actively involved in phase II and phase III clinical trials in CNS tumours. Other areas of interest include management of CNS metastasis, and assessing interventions that might improve patients’ quality of life such as physical activity.
