Soumi Kundu is a senior research scientist at Uppsala University, Sweden, in the Division of Neuro-Oncology and Dementia at the Department of Immunology, Genetics, and Pathology. As a post-doctoral researcher at Uppsala University, she obtained funding from the Swedish Linnaeus Foundation and BB Hedströms-Landells scholarships to fund her research work in neuro-oncology. Her present field of research focuses on the understanding of invasion in glioblastoma. She is conducting her research work in the laboratory of Prof Sven Nelander at the university. The lab has established reproducible patient-derived xenograft models, which are crucial tools for the study of growth patterns and invasion of glioblastoma cells in brain parenchyma. For her project, she is utilizing the Uppsala-based HGCC (Human Glioma Cell Culture) consortium at the division of Neuro-Oncology and with collaborators further characterizing the resource.
