Ekokone Fonkem, DO is a neurologist and Neuro-oncologist. I am Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI with board certifications in neurology and neuro-oncology. I have been a member of SNO since 2012 serving on numerous task force and committee roles including Co-chair of Pre-Conference Educational Workshop, member of Women and Diversity Committee, SNO Abstract Review Committee and SNO Mentorship Committee. I proudly partnered with SNO to co-found the Society for Neuro-Oncology Sub Saharan Africa (SNOSSA). I currently serve on the SNOSSA Executive Steering Committee to standardize brain tumor diagnosis and treatment in Africa through webinars, annual educational and scientific conferences, and advocacy. I co-founded and currently co-Chair the African Brain Tumor Registry and Biobanking Consortium aimed to advance brain tumor research globally. I am a member of several neurology and oncology consortia and professional societies including AAN, ASCO, and I serve on the Conquer Cancer Grant Review Panel. My research interests are broad and include new therapeutic targets in brain tumors, clinical trials and quality of life in brain tumor patients.
