Augusto Faria Andrade, MSc,PhD - Research Associate, McGill University, Montreal, Nada Jabado Lab.
Dr Andrade completed his PhD in Genetics at University of São Paulo (Brazil). He joined Jabado lab in 2019 as a postdoctoral fellow and transitioned to a research associate position. Currently, he is working on studying the role of histone 3 mutations in gliomagenesis and brain development. As a researcher, he aims to investigate pediatric brain cancers and how the microenvironment and cellular contexts in which tumorigenic mutations arise may promote the survival and aggressive behavior of these tumors. Besides, he investigates how to exploit these interactions therapeutically. His work is based on different model systems – including patient-derived cell lines, orthotopic xenograft and transgenic murine animal models, gene editing and pharmacologic modulation. Besides, it integrates and explores multiple cutting-edge technologies such as single-cell RNA sequencing, flow CyTOF and Imaging Mass Cytometry.
