Dr. Melike Pekmezci is a pathologist with primary specialty areas of Ocular Pathology and Neuropathology. She is involved in translational research with specific focus on diagnostic and prognostic markers of CNS and ocular neoplasms. She has been particularly interested in molecular classification and grading schemes of diffuse gliomas, and diagnostic and molecular markers of ocular surface neoplasms and melanocytic lesions.
Dr. Melike Pekmezci earned her M.D. degree from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Turkey with two-year post-graduate training in clinical Ophthalmology in Turkey. She has completed her residency training in Anatomical Pathology, and fellowship training in Surgical Pathology and Neuropathology at University of California San Francisco.
Dr. Pekmezci has been a member of numerous professional organizations, including USCAP, American Association of Neuropathologists, Society for Neuro-Oncology, Verhoeff-Zimmerman Society and American Association of Ophthalmic Oncologists and Pathologists. She has published over 75 peer-reviewed manuscripts on diseases of the brain and eye, along with numerous case reports, book chapters and reviews.
