Christopher M. Jackson, M.D. is an assistant professor of Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Jackson graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2013 and completed neurosurgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2020. Dr. Jackson’s research focuses on mechanisms by which brain tumors suppress and evade immune responses. Working with Dr. Michael Lim, highlights of his work include the finding that melanoma brain tumors suppress systemic antitumor immunity via TGF-beta; describing the immunologic effects of local vs. systemic chemotherapy in the setting of PD-1 blockade; demonstrating that focal radiation therapy potentiates PD-1 blockade in animal models, and exploring the potential of combination immunotherapy regimens. He also has an interest in vascular neurosurgery and is exploring how canonical inflammatory pathways function in the setting of cerebrovascular disease.
