Lauren Broestl is currently enrolled at Washington University School of Medicine in the Medical Scientist Training Program. She is pursuing her PhD in the lab of Dr. Joshua B. Rubin, where she is investigating how sex differences in cellular senescence contribute to sex differences in glioblastoma incidence and outcome. Lauren received her B.A.’s in Molecular Cell Biology and English from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011, and spent several years working in a translational neuroscience lab at the University of California, San Francisco before starting medical school in 2014. Following her PhD, she plans to return to medical school and residency. Long term, her goal is to practice as a pediatric neurologist and run a lab focused on how sexual dimorphism in genetics and epigenetics impacts health and disease in neurodevelopment and pediatric brain tumors.
