Dr. Leon Kaulen, MD DSc, is a clinician scientist in the Dept. of Neurology at Heidelberg University Hospital and the Clinical Cooperation Unit Neuro-Oncology at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany.
His research focuses on the clinical, translational, and wet lab characterization of primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL). He coordinates multi-center efforts to characterize clinical and molecular disease subtypes aiming to identify biomarkers, that improve prognostic stratification and may guide personalized treatment selection. His translational and wet lab efforts seek to decipher the molecular hallmarks of CNS lymphomagenesis. Genetic characterization of patient specimen allows the identification of novel therapeutic vulnerabilities followed by the development of targeted therapies with the ultimate goal of translation from bench to bedside.
