T.J. (Tom) Snijders, MD PhD, is a neurologist/neuro-oncologist in the University Medical Center Utrecht. He completed his medical studies and his Neurology residency in the UMC Utrecht. During his training, he obtained a PhD-degree in the field of chronic pain medicine.
Since his registration as a neurologist/neuro-oncologist in 2011, his practice encompasses all aspects of neuro-oncological patient care. He is the joint coordinator of the Neuro-oncology research program of the UMC Utrecht Brain Center. His scientific work focuses on primary brain tumors, specifically gliomas, with special attention for imaging techniques, pseudoprogression, cognition and epilepsy. He is also involved in providing and evaluating experimental treatments (international clinical trials) in the UMC Utrecht. He has participated in national and international guideline committees on Bing-Neel Syndrome and meningioma. Dr Snijders is the head of editorial board of Hersentumor.nl, the Dutch national information website concerning brain tumors.
