Hans-Georg Wirsching is an attending physician in neurology and a neuro-oncology research group leader at the University Hospital and University of Zurich. Following his masters thesis in developmental neuroanatomy at the University of Freiburg, Germany, he has joined the research group of Michael Weller at the University Hospital and University of Zurich as a researcher and resident physician in neurology, focussing on the identification of novel drug targets and prognostic biomarkers in glioblastoma. During a postdoctoral research fellowship in the group of Eric C. Holland at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA, he expanded on his pre-clinical activities utilizing the RCAS/tv-a somatic gene transfer system for pre-clinical tumor modeling and drug development. Upon his return to the University Hospital and University of Zurich, he was assigned attending physician in neurology and founded his own research group. His research focus is the translation of novel therapeutic concepts toward clinical trials.
