Kaitlyn Sy, AS, completed a clinical rotation in neuro-oncology under the mentorship of Dr. Amandeep Kalra, MD, FACP, at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, where she gained exposure to a wide variety of CNS malignancies. Kaitlyn earned her Associate of Science in General Sciences from Johnson County Community College, where she graduated with highest honors. She is now finishing her Bachelor of Applied Science in Biotechnology at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus, where she is an active member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Kaitlyn has a strong commitment to improving the lives of cancer patients through advocacy and research. She volunteered as a Treatment Liaison at the University of Kansas Cancer Center and is now doing basic science research on the effects of an acidic tumor microenvironment on T cell receptor signaling in hopes of elucidating one of the aspects of how cancer evades immune detection. Kaitlyn looks forward to continuing her training in medicine and research, with the ultimate goal of serving her community as a skilled and compassionate physician.
