Dr. Gallus is a neurosurgery resident and a postdoctoral fellow of the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the UCSF Department of Neurological Surgery in San Francisco. Dr. Gallus has a fascination for neuroimmunology, and his research led to the discovery of antigen-specific cytotoxic T cells as mediators of autoimmune limbic encephalitis associated with temporal lobe epilepsy. During his residency at the University Hospital Muenster, under the guidance and support from Dr. Walter Stummer, his primary interest then centered
around the treatment of brain and spine tumor patients. Under the mentorship of Dr. Okada at the UCSF Brain Tumor Center, he is currently engrossed in the pursuit of innovative strategies such as low-intensity pulsed focused ultrasound to surmount the prevailing challenges associated with immunotherapy for glioma.
