My name is Tyler Alban and I'm a graduate student in the Molecular Medicine Program at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. In Dr. Justin Lathia's lab I study immune suppression induced by Glioblastoma through the activation of Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells (MDSCs). Through my work in the lab I've identified MDSCs as being increased in patients with GBM compared to low grade gliomas and non-malignant brain tumors by use of mass cytometry time of flight. Furthermore, my work is currently focused on targeting MDSCs directly through the inhibition of macrophage migration inhibitor factor (MIF) in order to induce an anti-tumor immune response.
