John H. Rossmeisl is the Dr. and Mrs. Dorsey Taylor Mahin Endowed Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. He received the D.V.M. degree from Auburn University, an MS in molecular biology from Virginia Tech, and is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Medicine (ACVIM) in the specialties of small animal internal medicine and neurology. He holds joint appointments in the Brain Tumor Center of Excellence at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering. He has served as the director of the Veterinary and Comparative Neuro-oncology Laboratory since 2006, and is a past- president of the ACVIM Specialty of Neurology. His research interests include elucidating the mechanisms that initiate and drive the formation of brain cancers, creating novel systems for the delivery of therapeutic agents to the brain, minimally invasive neurosurgery, and the design and conduct of clinical trials in companion animals with central nervous system cancers.
