Deepna Chand serves as a medical scribe for the neuro-oncology team at the Pacific Neuroscience Institute at St John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. She graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Biomedical Research. She is currently in her gap year and has plans to apply to medical school. While originally from the Los Angeles area, she spent over 10 years abroad primarily in New Zealand and then Australia before migrating back to California in 2017. Her interest in neuroscience and medicine developed from her experience volunteering with people suffering from Tourette’s Syndrome, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Parkinson’s Disease while she lived overseas. She returned to the US and motivated by these experiences abroad, has engaged in a variety of research and clinic work that has only cemented her desire to pursue a career in medicine with an intent to treat people suffering from neurological diseases.
