My name is Dr. David Gass and I am an attending physician at Atrium Health-Levine Children's Hospital in the department for cancer and blood disorders. I sub-specialize in Neurooncology and hematology within the department. I have worked at my current position since 2014. Prior to this I completed Pediatric neurooncology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Pediatric Hematology/oncology fellowship at Columbia University.
Outside of my clinical interests, I am actively involved in medical education. I have been the director of 4th year pediatric medical education electives at our Charlotte campus of the Wake Forest SChool of Medicine. As of June 2023, I was promoted to the Associate Professor rank within the medical school and I'm actively involved in the pediatric residency program and in the past 7 years have mentored 6 residents as they pursued fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology. I also earned a Master in Eduation Degree from the Warner School of Education in Rochester, NY in 2003 and a Certificate of Medical Education from the University of Cincinnati in 2014. I am using these degrees to create new curriculum and lead educational programs at Atrium Health. I recently was awarded the ASH medical Educators Institution Opportunity, and now am actively completing an IRB approved Medical Education Project which is aimed at improving Hematology/ONcology education within the Pediatric Residency program at our instutions.
