Matthew Muir is a postdoctoral researcher at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Matthew was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington and received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. He attended medical school at Baylor College
of Medicine where he was selected for induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed the Medical Research Pathway Fellowship during medical school by studying non-invasive brain mapping techniques in the neurosurgery department at MD Anderson. His work focuses on developing data-driven, non-invasive imaging approaches capable of reproducibly and selectively localizing cortical-subcortical language and motor networks. Throughout medical school he co-authored over 20 peer reviewed publications, including 11 as first author in journals such as Frontiers in Neuroscience, Journal of Neurosurgery, and Neuro-Oncology Advances. He has also been selected for multiple oral presentations at the national neurosurgical conferences CNS and AANS.
