Prof. Dr. Dieter Henrik Heiland is a Neurosurgeon at the Medical-Center University of Freiburg. After earning his medical degree from the Ruhr-University Bochum in 2012, he delved into the epigenetic regulation of brain tumors, emphasizing their transcriptional diversity for his thesis. He further honed his expertise as a postdoc under Irina Mader, exploring radiogenomic associations and the metabolic shifts of malignant gliomas. In 2016, propelled by his interest in the brain's microenvironment, Dr. Heiland established his research group. They focus on the spatiotemporal changes induced by gliomas in the tumor microenvironment, utilizing cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics and single-cell genomics
