Dr. Carl Koschmann is an Associate Professor with Tenure and the Chad Carr Pediatric Brain Tumor Center Research Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan. He is also the Chad Carr Pediatric Brain Tumor Center Research Clinical Research Director and the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation Co-Scientific Director.
The Koschmann laboratory is exploring the molecular mechanisms by which recurrent mutations in pediatric diffuse midline glioma (DMG) and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) promote tumor formation and effect treatment response. Dr. Koschmann has applied this precision medicine approach in translational and clinical work in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology. Dr. Koschmann has helped establish multiple clinical trials and algorithms incorporating the use of molecularly targeted therapy for pediatric patients with brain tumors. His lab performs biologic correlative research associated with these trials.
