Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
New York, New York, United States
My name is Jessica A. Wilcox, MD and I am the Chief Fellow in Neuro-Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. I am currently in my second and final year of fellowship training. Prior to my employment with MSKCC, I completed my medical internship and neurology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where I served as the Chief Resident during my final year of residency.
My academic research focus at MSKCC is in the treatment of brain and leptomeningeal metastases. My current projects include the design and implementation of a translational investigator-initiated clinical trial for patients with leptomeningeal metastases from non-small cell lung cancer, a collaborative analysis on the role of CSF immune surveillance in melanoma leptomeningeal metastases, and a retrospective review of recurrent brain metastasis patterns and treatment-associated complications. As a clinical fellow in the Adrienne Boire Lab, studying the CSF microenvironment and mechanisms by which cancer cells survive in a nutrient-sparse niche, I also recently collaborated with a team of scientists to characterize the CSF neuro-inflammatory response in patients with neurologic manifestations of COVID-19. Through my chief leadership responsibilities, I have directed trainee education at multiple stages and have worked with program administrators on a variety of departmental QA projects. I serve as a neuro-oncology mentor to multiple residents and medical students, helping to guide young trainees interested in neuro-oncology careers through clinical encounters and research projects.
Upon completion of fellowship training, I intend to pursue a faculty position at a major academic institution in the New York metropolitan area. I wish to continue to develop investigator-initiated trials for patients with primary and secondary CNS tumors, with a goal of growing as a successful clinical trialist.
