Dr. Cahill is the Tawingo Professor in Neurosurgery at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and the Vice Chair for Research for the Department. He is the director of Neurosurgical Oncology at the Mass General Brain Tumor Center. He attended Yale College and Johns Hopkins Medical School. He completed neurosurgery residency training at MGH, and then joined the faculty in the Department of Neurosurgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he was in practice for several years. He was later recruited to rejoin the faculty of the MGH in 2011, where he currently has an active practice of 150-200 tumor neurosurgeries per year, and serves as the director of the Translational Neuro-Oncology Lab. His lab has made key contributions in the study of genomics and glioma, meningioma, craniopharyngioma, and brain metastasis, having authored over 150 articles which have been cited over 30000 times.
