Jinyun Yuan, PhD, joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis as a research staff scientist in 2019. Dr. Yuan earned her Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Tsinghua University, China, in 2007.
After graduating, Dr. Yuan pursued postdoctoral fellowships at both the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies and The Scripps Research Institute, where she made significant contributions to the fields of HIV gene therapy and HIV-1 resistance.
From 2012 to 2018, Dr. Yuan held dual roles as a research associate and later as a postdoctoral fellow at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. During this time, she significantly contributed to research on tuberculosis immunity, cancer immunotherapy.
Dr. Yuan's career at Washington University School of Medicine began in the Department of Radiation Oncology in 2018, where she served as a staff scientist before transitioning to her current role. Throughout her diverse research career, Dr. Yuan has accumulated extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in various fields, including hematopoiesis, miRNAs, cancer biology, cancer immunotherapy, and cancer liquid biopsy.
Presently, Dr. Yuan's research focus revolves around enhancing the molecular diagnosis of brain cancers, leveraging the potential of focused ultrasound technology. She is dedicated to understanding the impact of focused ultrasound on brain cancer biology and therapy, contributing to advancements in our ability to diagnose and treat this complex disease.
