Karl Habashy is a medical graduate from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. After completing his MD in 2022, he joined the laboratory of Dr. Adam Sonabend at the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute of Northwestern University. He worked with other investigators to explore the use of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound and microbubbles with combination chemotherapy for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma. Their work have laid the foundation for an ongoing phase II clinical trial investigating the safety and efficacy of paclitaxel and carboplatin delivered with low-intensity pulsed ultrasound and microbubbles for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma. His current work focuses on deciphering the mechanisms of blood-brain barrier repair following low-intensity pulsed ultrasound.
