David A. Solomon, MD, PhD is a Principal Investigator at the UCSF Brain Tumor Center and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a physician-scientist with dedicated expertise in the pathologic and molecular analysis of brain tumors and other human cancers. His research laboratory focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms by which specific oncogene and tumor suppressor gene mutations drive cancer development and progression with a goal of developing new efficacious targeted therapies. He has led functional genomics studies over the past few years that discovered the genetic basis of several brain tumor types including chordoid glioma, ganglioglioma, myxoid glioneuronal tumor, multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumor, pineal parenchymal tumors, pediatric bithalamic gliomas, and radiation-induced gliomas.
