Craig Erker, MD, MS, Assistant Professor at Dalhousie and IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Canada. I currently serve as a co-lead for the high-grade glioma response assessment in pediatric neuro-oncology (RAPNO) subcommittee, where we developed and published a new consensus approach for response criteria for pediatric high-grade gliomas. Otherwise, I am a highly involved and engaged member of the Canadian oncology groups for both research and collaboration including the Canadian Brain Tumor Consortium and the C17 Developmental Therapeutics (DVL) group where I serve as site PI.
I have worked to lead a study on patient outcome research, focusing on family relationships in children with cancer and their siblings using Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs). Currently, I am working with a large registry of patients ≥10 years of age with diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG) to improve our understanding of this horrible and incurable childhood cancer. Furthermore, I am working to implement prospective patient-reported outcomes into the International DIPG Registry, as well as, assessing the implementation of a limited autopsy program for those patients with CNS tumors. I am engaged as a lead investigator on an international collaborative study to better understand the prognosis and therapy of young children who relapse after initial craniospinal irradiation sparing approaches for medulloblastoma.
