Annick Desjardins, MD, FRCPC, Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Director of Clinical Research, The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. Dr. Desjardins completed her residency in Adult Neurology at the Universite de Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. She finished a two-year fellowship in Neuro-oncology at The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. Upon completion of her fellowship in July of 2005, she joined the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke as faculty. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Adult Neurology and she is certified in the subspecialty of Neuro-oncology by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
Dr. Desjardins is the Director of Clinical Research at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke and Clinical Trials Core Co-Director for the Duke Brain SPORE and P01 grants. Her responsibilities include the daily care of primary brain tumor patients from their diagnosis until their death, the conduct of clinical research, and the training in neurology and neuro-oncology of medical students, neurology residents, neurosurgery residents and neuro-oncology fellows. Her main focus in clinical research includes the utilization of oncolytic viruses/immunotoxins/vaccines/immunotherapy, antiangiogenic, targeted therapies and other therapeutic agents for primary malignant brain tumors. At Duke, she has been the Principal Investigator on over 40 therapeutic trials in neuro-oncology, and she also have led international multicenter trials, and held several INDs. She has over 125 peer-review publications and eight book chapters.
