Lindsay B. Kilburn, MD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at GW School of Medicine and an Attending Physician in NeuroOncology in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders/Brain Tumor Institute at Children's National Hospital in Washington DC. Dr Kilburn is board certified in both pediatric hematology oncology and clinical pharmacology making her uniquely suited for her research focusing on the development of novel therapies for children with brain tumors. Dr Kilburn is an active member and serves in leadership roles in multiple pediatric early phase clinical trial consortia including the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC); the Pacific Pediatric Neuro-oncology Consortium (PNOC) and the Collaborative Network for Neuro-oncology Clinical Trials (CONNECT) as well as the Children's Oncology Group (COG). Through these consortia and in partnership with industry she has led or co-led numerous early phase clinical trials with a focus on trials for children and young adults with gliomas. She also collaborates with other researchers to develop appropriate correlative biology studies and translational studies to enhance our understanding of the results of clinical trials as well as accelerate development of appropriate therapies into the clinic. More recently she has been actively involved in leading the initiation of clinical trials utilizing low intensity focused ultrasound as a novel therapuetic modality in pediatric brain tumor therapy. Throughout these research efforts, Dr Kilburn remains a committed clinician and is passionate about the care of children with brain tumors and their families which serves as the inspiration for her research and advocacy toward not only developing better therapies for children
