Chirag B. Patel, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor and McNair Scholar in the Department of Neuro-Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. His lab uses in vitro and animal models to study (a) alternating electric fields (AEFs) therapy, which has been shown to prolong survival in patients with glioblastoma when combined with chemotherapy and (b) the cell membrane changes induced in cancer cells exposed to AEFs as a means to improve the therapeutic potential of conventional and experimental therapies in glioblastoma.
