Dr Sofia Mason (BMed MD FRACP) is a PhD candidate at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, through UNSW Sydney, and a medical oncologist with interests in neuro-oncology and breast cancer, currently undertaking locum work at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, Camperdown.
Dr Mason's PhD research is exploring plasticity and resistance mechanisms in glioblastoma. Her current work is focusing on the role of androgen signalling in glioblastoma, and she has developed research skills across wet lab and animal work.
Dr Mason recently recieved her fellowship in medical oncology, in May 2023. During her training, she wrote several guidelines for EviQ, an Australia-wide resource of treatment protocols for oncology professionals. Sofia is also a Cochrane author, recently completing a meta-analysis on the use of platinum chemotherapy in early triple-negative breast cancer. She is also a member of COGNO, the Australian neuro-onology trials group, and serves on the Outreach and Education committee.
