Dr. Katherine Ryan is a third year fellow in Pediatric Hematology Oncology at Duke University Hospital, pursuing a career as a Pediatric and Young Adult Neuro-Oncologist. Dr. Ryan completed her BS in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 2015 before continuing on to medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She completed her pediatric residency training at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in 2018 before joining the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology fellowship here at Duke. Since she joined the Duke Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Program and the Fecci Lab in 2019 at the start of her second fellowship year, Dr. Ryan has demonstrated great promise as a clinician scientist, whose dedication to the well-being of her patients matches her commitment to explore a better cure for cancers of the central nervous system. Her research interests include finding effective and minimally toxic immunotherapies for the treatment of brain tumors and systemic malignancies, and she is currently exploring adoptive T Cell therapies for pediatric and adult high-grade gliomas.
