Karsten Nysom, MD PhD works as a senior consultant in the Section for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the Department of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He has a particular interest in CNS tumors in children and adolescents and is the member of several Nordic and European working groups on such diseases and co-authored the currently recruiting European trial SIOPE ATRT01 for atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors.
Karsten Nysom chairs the Clinical Trials Unit for Children and Adolescents with Cancer, which includes the national Danish Phase 1-2 trials unit for children and adolescents with cancer. The phase 1-2 trials unit is an active member of the "Innovative Therapies for Children and Adolescents with Cancer" consortium (ITCC), serves all Denmark, and recruits nearly half of the trial participants from neighboring countries, mainly in the Nordic region.
